Ideas for Games for Kids Night at Church
Hosting a kids night at your church is an ideal way to provide a safe, faith-based atmosphere for the youth in your church, while enabling parents and the community to enjoy a night out with friends. Choosing the right activities will create a memorable experience and make the kids want to attend future events at your church. Parents will be happy to know that their children are socializing in a supervised setting where they are positively nurtured as individuals and encouraged in their spiritual development.

Movie Time
-
Kids of all ages usually enjoy a little time in front of the television or a big screen. Choose faith-based movies such as those produced by Veggie Tales or GodFilms. While Veggie Tales is appropriate for all ages, GodFilms movies raise important life issues that may be more suited to younger people. Providing pizza and drinks is an ideal way to keep the kids happy while they watch movies. After the movies are over, study the Bible verses or spiritual truths discussed in the movies and how they relate to the kids' lives.
Bible Truth or Dare
-
Many teens play "Truth or Dare" at sleepovers, where someone has to truthfully reveal something about himself or complete an embarrassing or challenging dare. While the traditional version of this popular game is not necessarily wholesome, you can turn it into an appropriate game for your church gathering by giving it a biblical spin. The kids sit in a circle and one person at a time is "it." While blindfolded, the person who is "it" opens her Bible up to a random page. She removes her blindfold and reads the Bible verses printed on the page and chooses truth or dare. The rest of the group decides on an appropriate truth or dare assignment relating to the Bible passage. For truth, they might ask her to disclose whether the verses read have any relevance to her personal life. For dare, they might ask her to act like one of the Bible characters or try to recite a verse or two from memory.

Biblical Costume Contest
-
Kids often enjoy playing dress-up and pretending to be someone else. Encourage their imaginations by asking them to come to your church's event dressed as a character of the Bible. Take photos of them as they arrive and then ask them to participate in a costume contest. Everyone wearing a costume struts down the runway and all the kids vote on who has the best costume. They can spend the rest of the evening talking about the Bible stories and concepts that relate to their costumes, while having fun acting like famous Bible characters.
Bible Trivia
-
The Bible is comprised of countless stories and characters, some of which are covered regularly in church while others are not. Write down Bible trivia questions on note cards, ensuring that at least one or two questions relate to each book of the Bible. Divide the children into teams and read the Bible trivia questions aloud. The first team to find the answer to each question in their Bible rings a bell. Teams accumulate points for correct answers and lose points for incorrect answers. At the end of the game, all players receive a consolation prize for participating. Small new testament Bibles, Christian jewelry, pens, pencils, or stickers can all be excellent prizes to pass out to the kids.
