Human Fire Hose Tangle

The kids stand in a circle to play this game. Everyone grabs someone else's left hand, but it can't be a person right next to them. Then everyone grabs right hands. It can't be someone next to them and it can't be the same person whose left hand they are holding. The kids must untangle the human fire hose they created without letting go of hands. They'll have fun twisting and turning to get themselves untangled.
Firefighter Training Course

A training course gets the young firefighters in shape for a tough job. The obstacles and challenges you create will depend on the amount of space and resources available. Good ideas include crawling through a tunnel made of cardboard boxes, walking across a low balance beam, pulling a sled with a few books for weight and jumping over a pile of pillows. For more of a challenge, have the kids wear a firefighter's uniform as they complete the training course.

Fireman Relay

You'll need a firefighter costume for each team playing in the relay. A costume shop is a good place to look. Another option is to buy an inexpensive firefighter hat at a discount or party store. You can use a raincoat and an old pair of rain boots to finish off you homemade firefighter costume. The first player on each team puts on the fireman costume, runs the length of the course and then returns to the starting line. She takes off the costume and passes it on to the next player, who repeats the process.
Putting Out Flames

Red, orange and yellow balloons represent the flames in this fireman-themed game. One at a time, the kids run and grab a balloon "flame." They place a blanket over it and then sit or stomp on it to put out the flame by popping the balloon. The next person then takes a turn.
Another version of this game is to draw flames with red, orange and yellow sidewalk chalk down the length of the driveway or sidewalk. Each child gets a squirt bottle full or water which they use to put out the flames. When the chalk flames disappear, the fire is out. You can also use a garden hose instead of squirt bottles, but the kids will have to wait longer for a turn.
