Winter Wonderland
-
Set the stage for a winter wonderland tablescape with a mirror tile or two in the center of the table. Transform the tile into an ice skating pond in a Christmas tree forest by gluing cotton balls around the perimeter of the mirror tile. Continue the snowy landscape around the crystal goblets and glasses that stand before your white Christmas china. Dot the snow-covered table with small, decorated Christmas trees. Candles in the midst of all of that cotton are not a good idea, so hide white string lights beneath the cotton snow around the skating pond and beneath the snow behind the crystal glassware. Miniature skaters on the frozen pond and Christmas wreath napkin rings will add the final touches to your winter wonderland tablescape.
Vintage Ceramic Tree Forest
-
Line the center of your Christmas table with vintage ceramic trees. Many vintage Christmas trees from the 1950s and '60s have a light bulb base that the ceramic tree fits over. Holes in the tree are filled in with colored acrylic pieces shaped like Christmas tree lights. When the light bulb is turned on, the ceramic tree glows with colorful lights. Sizes of the trees vary from 6 to 8 inches tall and above. Look for them in local antique marts, thrift stores and your grandmother's attic.
Cover the electrical cords from the trees with cotton ball snow. Hand paint wine glasses and water goblets with decorative Christmas trees as part of your tablescape. Complement the colorful centerpiece trees with gold chargers topped with bright red Christmas china and white or green napkins.

Christmas Ornament Theme
-
Another simple way to create a Christmas tablescape is to fill a crystal bowl with colorful ornaments and place it in the center of the table. Flank the bowl with two 8-inch white taper candles standing in 6-inch crystal candleholders. Red glassware, gold chargers and white china will add to the colorful decor. If red, gold and green are not the colors of Christmas in your home, change the color scheme to match the ornaments in the centerpiece. Modern Christmas colors include blue, lavender, winter white and silver.
Make the name tags for each place setting by hand painting names onto small ornaments, which will also be a hostess gift for your guests. Decorate the gift ornaments with beaded fringe and rhinestones for extra flair. It's simple to attach a strip of beaded fringe around the center of an ornament with a glue gun and then dot the top half with coordinated rhinestones. If you are not comfortable hand painting the names on the ornaments, you can use a stencil for each of the letters and fill in with acrylics.
