Glass Ornaments
-
Paint directly onto the surface of blank glass ornaments with opaque or transparent acrylic paint. Clean the ornament and let it dry first. Then, hold the ornament steady with your index finger and thumb on the top and the bottom while you paint. Each family member can decorate an ornament with her name, or an illustration of her favorite sport or activity. Or, cover the entire surface with transparent paint for a stained-glass look. To create this effect, look for Pebeo Vitrea 160 paint.
You can also paint the insides of glass ornaments. Remove the ornament's cap and clean the inside before you begin. Then, for a marbled look, simply pour and swirl a few different colors of acrylic paint inside of the ball until the entire surface is coated with paint.
Christmas Cards
-
Make handmade, personalized Christmas cards for your friends and relatives. Purchase some watercolor paper, and cut the paper to the appropriate size for your cards. Use watercolors, colored pencils or diluted acrylic paint to decorate the cards. Try illustrations of holiday scenes, cookies, snowmen or Christmas trees, or simply paint an abstract pattern. On the inside of the card, add a few more painted details along with your own personal message.

Stockings and Gifts
-
Use fabric paint to decorate blank felt or canvas stockings. Use metallic, iridescent or matte acrylic paint, and glitter glue pens for added sparkle. Use hot glue to attach sequins, glitter and felt shapes to the stockings.
Painted aprons, tote bags, T-shirts and canvas shoes work well as gifts. Find blank canvas and cotton items at many craft stores. Wash the items and let them dry before you begin painting. Then, use acrylic fabric paint to create your unique design or illustration. Practice your designs on paper before you commit them to the clothing item itself. Use a small brush for details, or paint bottles with precision tips.
