What Kinds of Armor Do Paladins Wear in "World of Warcraft?"
Paladins are a hybrid class in "World of Warcraft," capable of fulfilling either of the three roles in the game, those being healing, tanking or damage-dealing. The role they choose depends entirely on their chosen talents and their gear. All paladins wear plate armor from level 40. Before level 40, they will only wear mail armor. However, the stats on the armor vary greatly depending on the type of paladin you are playing.

Holy
-
Holy paladins, or healing paladins, like all paladins wear plate armor, although there may be cases where a lower tier of armor is more suitable for them when they cannot obtain the ideal plate-piece as easily. The two most important main stats for holy Paladins are intellect and spirit. Intellect gives more spell power and critical strike chance while spirit provides better health and manna regeneration.
Protection
-
Protection paladins excel at tanking and making sure that their fellow group members are kept safe from attack. Enemies should always be attacking the tank, so it is important that a protection-spec paladin be extremely tough with a lot of hit points and a lot of armor. Protection paladins wear armor with a lot of stamina and strength, though secondary stats such as dodge and parry are also important. Plate armor provides the best armor in-game.

Retribution
-
Retribution paladins are all about dealing physical damage, so they don't need to worry about health and armor so much. Their armor pieces should have plenty of strength on them in addition to secondary stats such as expertise, mastery and critical strike. Retribution paladins should always choose plate armor.
PvP Considerations
-
Paladins in PvP are best off with the PvP-specific sets. The Vicious Gladiator's set is now available for Honor Points which are easy to obtain. They provide a full set of armor complete with set bonuses. When you are just starting out, you can also try the eight-piece PvP set crafted by blacksmiths.
