People try to find unique ideas for costumes at Halloween or at other costume events. Pirates, princesses, mosters and ghosts are seen in abundance, but pancake costumes are not seen nearly as often. Create a pankcake costume for Halloween or another costume event.
Create a pancake costume out of fabric. Use a hula hoop as a template. Cut tan colored fabric into a circle slightly larger than the hula hoop. Make a second circle exactly the same. Glue the fabric circles onto both sides of the hula hoop. Sew the hoop onto a tan colored sweatshirt or use duct tape. Use fabric paint to paint syrup and butter on the front. You can also create a quilted circle out of tan fabric to use as a pancake costume.
Use cardboard to create a pancake costume. Use two large piece of cardboard to create a two circles. Paint the circles tan and add brown maple syrup and a couple of yellow pats of butter to one of the circles. Have the person wearing the costume wear a light tan colored sweat outfit. Put the pancake with the syrup and butter on the front of the person wearing the costume and the other circle behind. Attach the two together by using duct tape to create two shoulder straps and one around both sides of the waist. You can also create a large plate out of the two circles and paint the image of pancakes on the plates.
Pancake Mix Box Costume
Create a pancake mix box costume out of a large cardboard box. Cut a hole it the top of a large box for your head. Cut a hole on each side for arms and two on the bottom for legs. Paint the box to resemble a box of pancake mix. Use a nationally recognized brand as inspiration or create your own brand name. Another way to create a pancake mix box costume is to create the box front decoration on a computer, convert it to a photo file and have a poster printed at a print shop. Glue the poster to the front of the costume to make it look like an authentic pancake mix box.
Baby Pancake Costume
Make an infant pancake costume out of a cardboard hat box obtained from a craft store. Cut holes in the base for the baby's legs and a hole in the lid for the head. Add tan colored felt around the box and lid. Draw a couple of black, horizontal lines to make it appear that the pancakes are stacked. Cut an irregular shape out of dark brown felt. The shape should look like a pool of dripping maple syrup. Cut a hole in the center and use it like a collar around the baby's head. Set the baby inside the box and let the dark brown felt hang over the edges of the pancakes to look like the syrup is dripping down. Make a small, square, yellow felt pillow attached to an elastic band for a pat of butter. Put the butter on the baby's head. Create the same type of costume for an child or adult. Use a carpet roll instead of the hat box and follow the same steps.
