With all the stress and challenges that come with maintaining a long-distance relationship, it's even more crucial to celebrate each milestone together. When your anniversary rolls around, get your boyfriend a gift that shows unequivocally that you love him and are focused on keeping your relationship healthy.
Nothing says "I love you" like the effort of customizing a gift for your boyfriend. Build a custom-stuffed bear in your likeness at Build-a-Bear. Your boyfriend will smile at the bear version of you every time he sees it. Or, use his and your handwriting to create a customized font on a font-creation website for the two of you to use in an instant messaging program. You can also upload any image you choose on a personalized T-shirt website to a hoodie or T-shirt for your sweetie to wear, or create a customized care package for your boyfriend online.
If the way to a man's heart is through his stomach, he'll adore getting something edible for your anniversary. Sign him up for a wine-, cheese- or beer-of-the-month club. He'll think of you with love every time his new shipment arrives. Or, get him an assortment of restaurant gift cards so he can grab dinner and get home to chat online with you. You can also bake him a big box of homemade treats, such as brownies, marshmallow cereal bars and his favorite cookies. Send the box overnight so the treats will stay fresh.
Spoil him with a day at a men-only spa in his city. He'll leave feeling relaxed and even more loving toward you. Or, take a picture of the two of you to a local artist and commission a painting of it. Make a CD of all the songs that remind you of him. Use a picture of the two of you to create a CD jacket. Start a year early and write on 365 pages of a journal. Include loving thoughts about him, information about your daily life and hopes for the future. Send him the journal on your anniversary. He may be shocked at your honesty and desire to share so much.
Surprise him with a weeklong visit on your anniversary. Keep in mind that he may have to work, so plan activities for the evening. Or, send him two tickets to a playoff game for him and a buddy. Buy him a plane ticket to visit you and pay for the two of you to spend a weekend in a romantic mountain cabin. Start a tradition of surprising each other with a small getaway one weekend a month. Don't give any details about the weekend, just tell each other what to take along and when to meet.
