It is also a common watch battery and it can be used as a backup for an internal computer clock. Industry standards for the CR2025 battery stipulate a width from 0.776 to 0.787 inches at the top positive terminal. The width at the bottom negative terminal ranges from 0.630 to 0.669 inches. The full height of the battery is 0.087 to 0.098 inches, and the standard for the height of the protruding top portion must be from 0.074 to 0.085 inches. The height of the recessed bottom portion is 0.001 inches and the height of any protrusion at the top can be no more than 0.0008 inches. A CR2025 battery weighs 0.08 oz. of which 0.0028 oz. is lithium. Its volume is 0.05 cubic inches.
Power and Performance
The CR2025 battery is rated at 3.0 volts, and the typical power capacity is 160-165 milliamperes per hour up to 2.0 volts. The drain or standard discharge is 0.2 milliamperes. At 2.9 volts its drain is 0.193 milliamperes at 15,000 ohms. It operates for 845 hours before experiencing a power reduction to 2.0 volts. At 10,000 ohms it operates for approximately 600 hours before its power reduces to 2.0 volts. Its maximum reverse charge is 1 microampere, and its energy density is 176 milliwatt hour/gram or 616 milliwatt hours per cubic centimeter.
Operating Conditions and Safety
Lithium-manganese dioxide CR2025 batteries can operate in temperatures from -22 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit, and they operate best at about 65 to 70 degrees Fahrenheit. They are considered dangerous goods for shipping purposes, and they can cause burns to the esophagus and other digestive organs if swallowed. Therefore, they must be kept out of the reach of children.
The CR2025 battery is designated as 5003LC by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and National Electronic Distributors Association (NEDA). It is classified as a "Lithium Coin" battery.
