Halloween Makeup Ideas for a Gothic Devil
Devils are popular characters for Halloween costumes. There are a wide variety of devils and every few years a new movie will come out that introduces a new look or color and a whole host of scars, horns, ears, eyebrow ridges, bumps and color combinations become the hot look of the year. Gothic devils never seem to be out of style. Gothic is also called goth and the look centers around a white face, smoky eyes, heavy eyeliner and red lips.

Preparing the Face
-
Wash your face with a face cleanser that removes the surface oils and leaves the skin squeaky. Dry your face with a towel. Add devil horns, bumps, scars or other features using a skin-safe adhesive. Place a towel over your clothing and powder your face, neck and upper chest with baby powder. If you prefer a red face, add a red blush powder to color your face.
Horns
-
Most larger devil horns are sold with clear, stretchable bands. This allows you to attach the horns after the makeup and just apply a touch-up to the bands to hide them. Often the area around the base of the horns takes special care to make them look like they are growing out of the face rather than strapped or glued on. Take the time to apply your facial skin color to the horn. You can even apply small fleshy pieces to make the horns look more authentic.

Eyeliner
-
The goth look is all about dark and shadowed eyes. Use an expensive eyeliner liquid and pencil. Draw in the lines around the eyelashes first and try to allow the liner to dry without blinking your eyes. Paint the eyeliner on more thickly over the upper eyelid once you are away from the lash line. If you have added skin bumps and other features, you may want to use liner on these for emphasis. Use wet cotton swabs to remove liner mistakes.
Shadows
-
Apply eye shadow housed in pressed powder format. This works better than liquid shadows and it won't look greasy or gather in the folds of your skin. Pick up powder on a shadow brush and tap off the excess on the container. Make the shadows darker along the eyeliner and allow the shadows to become more thin as they are applied to the sides, above and below your eyes. Finish with thick, black mascara. Use theatrical lipstick that contrasts with your devil skin color. Strong colors work best with goth makeup.
