A silver birthday marks the year that a person turns 25. Celebrate this milestone by hosting a glittering affair that includes sparkling silver decor and food and beverages that shimmer. A silver party can also be used to celebrate any occasion that calls for glitz and glamor.
A Room that Glitters
To create a room that sparkles, place silver framed mirrors on the walls of your party space, and place bunches of silver Mylar balloons around the room for added dazzle. Cover your dining table with a silver rhinestone-encrusted tablecloth; top it with glass vases that you've spray painted chrome. Fill the vases with a variety of white and silver flowers, and use glass or silver plates along with silver flatware and napkins. To complete the place settings, print guest’s names on light grey paper and slip into small silver frames as place markers. These frames double as party favors that guests take home.
If an all-silver affair is too formal for your 25-year-old, add a contrasting color. For a woman’s birthday, pink or lilac complement silver. Use pink plates atop silver chargers, and pair them with pink napkins that have been adorned with a silver napkin ring. Place pink or purple flowers in the silver-painted vases for the centerpiece, and lastly, mix in bright pink balloons with the silver Mylar to tie in your color scheme. For a more masculine theme, pair blue or black with silver by incorporating these colors into your place settings and decor. In lieu of flowers for centerpieces, spray paint tree branches black and use in silver vases. Or fill glass vases with black or blue metallic ornaments and place the vases in the center of the tables.
Set up a photo booth at your silver party; using vintage Polaroid cameras can create instant favors for your guests to take home. Create a backdrop by hanging a piece of silver fabric or a large personalized banner on a wall. Have a variety of silver props such as silver glitter top hats, silver tinsel wigs, sparkling magic wands and silver feathered boas. The photos of guests can also be placed into the silver frames that have been used as place markers.
Shimmering Food and Drinks
Set up a buffet table adorned with a silver lame tablecloth, and serve appetizers on shiny silver platters adorned with silver cocktail picks. Desserts can be placed in silver foil cupcake wrappers or served on tiny silver plates. Add vases of silver treats, such as metallic Jordan almonds and silver candy-coated chocolates. Pair your food with sparkling silver-studded beverages. Mix white chocolate martinis and pour into glasses that have been rimmed with silver cocktail sugar. Complement your treats with champagne Jello shots by mixing champagne, sugar and unflavored gelatin; pour the mixture into a baking dish lined with wax paper. Once the jello is set, cut it into small squares. Top with edible silver sugar stars before serving.
