Things You'll Need:

  • Invitations
  • Table Cloth
  • Bowls
  • Cones
  • Spoons
  • Ice Cream Scoop
  • Ice Cream
  • Assorted Toppings
  • Portable Table
  • Cooler
  • Trash Bag
  • Sprinkler
  1. Step 1

Decide on a date for your ice cream bash. Watch the weather report if the date is last minute. If it is planned more than a week in advance, set a rain date as well.

  2. Step 2

Print and mail invitations to your ice cream social, noting the date, time, location, directions and what the guests need to bring. Invite half of your guests to bring a gallon of ice cream and invite the other half to bring toppings such as sprinkles, hot fudge, caramel, marshmallow, maraschino cherries, candy bits and whipped cream. Someone could also bring waffle or ice cream cones.

  3. Step 3

Buy disposable bowls, spoons, napkins and a plastic table cloth. This can be your contribution as the host.

  4. Step 4

Arrange the supplies outside on a portable table, covered with the table cloth. Have an ice cream scoop in a cup of water for easier scooping. Have several spoons and bowls available for the toppings. Keep a trash bag nearby.

  5. Step 5

Place a few balloons outside of your venue so people know where to go.

  6. Step 6

Line up everyone at the table so the kids and adults can create their own masterpiece sundaes. Let kids choose their ice cream flavor and top it with any of the toppings.

  7. Step 7

Top each sundae with a squirt of whipped cream and a cherry.

  8. Step 8

Let everyone enjoy their creations. Offer seconds and thirds. Everyone should get their fill of ice cream.

  9. Step 9

Clean off the kids in a sprinkler or pool.

  10. Step 10

Gather the trash and clean up the area.
