French Clothing Styles for Children & Teens

Learn the different styles and brands of French children's and teen's clothing.

France has been long associated with high fashion; these days, even kids and teenagers have access to the French designers. Design houses such as Christian Dior, Sonia Rykiel, Louis Vuitton plus retail brands including Lacoste, Marithe & Francois Girbaud have expanded their clothing lines to include items for the young ones.

  1. Luxury

    • Dior Couture (diorcouture.com) offers chic children's outfits in both "haute couture" --- high fashion --- and ready-to-wear. Dior's children's line has separate collections for the boys and the girls, which includes clothing accessories, timepieces, handbags, shoes and even a Dior phone.

Sonia Rykiel (soniarykiel.com) also has a children's line named Rykiel Enfant; the line features clothes and accessories for toddlers to school-age girls.

    Sports Wear

    • French sports design house, Lacoste (lacoste.com), is a well-known brand in the tennis world. Lacoste has swimwear, summer shorts, hats, lightweight shirts and shoes, aside from their regular children's line. For those who want to dress up in pairs with their kids, Lacoste has matching collared shirts from the kids' collection that mirrors shirts from the adult collection. Even the trademark alligator logo is converted into a pixelated version of the image for a younger appeal.

    Collaborations

    • Not all French fashion design big names dive into the children's wear retail world. Some prefer to incorporate a few pieces into their collection that cater to the younger generation such as how Hermes (hermes.com) has a few baby gifts available on their website and actual stores. You can choose between the Hermes scarves, coloring books, plush horses or silver rattle. Other French designers have collaborations with other clothing houses such as what Jean Paul Gaultier did with its Junior Gaultier line, in cooperation with Groupe Zannier.

    Ready-to-Wear

    • For ready-to-wear items, there are other, more affordable French clothing labels such as the French Connection (frenchconnection.com), which features casual, everyday-wear clothes for babies and school-age girls and boys.

Smallable is another French label that features whimsical clothes for the little girls that are both chic and comfortable to wear. Most of its items are separates, which you can easily mix and match to incorporate other existing pieces from your kid's closet.
