The Bucyrus 8750 is a dragline, or single-bucket excavator, manufactured and designed by Bacyrus International. It is available in three models: the 8750B, 8750R and 8750D3. These draglines are used as the primary excavating tool in a number of surface mining operations worldwide. The equipment is built to operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week and will reach depths of 79.8 meters. The average operating life of the machinery is 40 years.
Bucyrus 8750B Specifications
The bucket for the Bucyrus 8750B dragline is capable of holding 81 to 116 cubic meters of ground, and the boom length ranges from 109.7 to 132.5 meters. The rated suspended load ranges between 240,408 to 344,736 kilograms, and the working weight ranges between 7,257,600 to 7,620,480 kilograms.
Bucyrus 8750R Specifications
The bucket for the Bucyrus 8750R dragline is capable of holding 76 to 99 cubic meters of ground and has a boom length range from 109.7 to 124.9 meters. The rated suspended load ranges between 226,800 to 294,840 kilograms, and the working weight ranges between 5,579,280 to 5,851,440 kilograms.
Bucyrus 8750D3 Specifications
The bucket on the Bucyrus 8750D3 dragline is capable of holding 90 cubic meters of ground, and the boom length is set at 109.7 meters. The rated suspended load is 267,624 kilograms, and the working weight is 5,553,920 kilograms.
Drive Specifications and Performance
The Bucyrus 8750B and 8750R series feature an AC drive with an efficiency of 86 percent versus traditional DC drives with 75 percent efficiency. This increased efficiency results in reduced energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions while increasing production opportunity and minimizing inventory cost. The AC motor does not use a brush, unlike DC drives, which reduces necessary maintenance and eliminates carbon dust emissions. The 8750D3 has a gear-less direct drive with a single low speed motor for both hoisting and dragging functions. The efficiency of the 8750D3 is 89 percent versus DC similar drives performing at 74 percent efficiency. This feature reduces filling times and increases hoisting, lowering and payout speeds.
The Bucyrus 8750B and Bucyrus 8750R have three optional features to meet the needs of the customer. AccessDirect is a remote monitoring system that allows instant access to the machine status in order to troubleshoot and monitor operations. The MIDAS, or monitoring interaction diagnostic service, works in conjunction with AccessDirect. The AccuLoad load weight system monitors load weight to prevent overloading and help maintain operational capacity. Additional accessories and options can be purchased for all three models depending on customer needs. Specialized training is also available from the Bucyrus Technical Training Center in South Milwaukee.
