Sunflower Wedding Colors

The sunflower has become a symbol of radiance, new life and happiness -- which are all feelings you can capture in your wedding with a sunflower theme. This floral wedding is easy to color coordinate by drawing inspiration from the sunflower itself. Yellow, green, blue and brown are hues should be featured in decorations, centerpieces and the ceremony to complete your sunflower wedding.

Yellow

  • When thinking of a sunflower, yellow is probably the first color that comes to mind. Use the flower itself to bring bright shades of the hue to your wedding ceremony and reception. Create centerpieces with the flower in tall vases or float a single sunflower blossom in a bowl of water. Sprinkle sunflower petals down the aisle. Beyond the yellow brought out in the flowers, consider adding it as accents throughout the rest of the event, including through napkin holders or ribbons around the programs.

Green

  • Green is a natural color to incorporate into a sunflower wedding, not only because it's the color of the sunflower stalk, but because it represents nature and new life. Ask your bridesmaids to wear green dresses and have groomsmen don green bow ties or socks. Hang green lanterns above the dance floor or stream green ribbons around the back of each chair. Scatter green colored stones across each table, too.

Blue

  • Nothing says summer like a sunflower set against the blue sky. Capture this lighthearted and joyful feeling at your wedding by incorporating blue into the festivities. Consider using blue linens for decorations, including as tablecloths or napkins. It is also a gender-neutral color to incorporate into the bridal party's outfits. The bride can sneak a hint of "something blue" into her wardrobe, too, with a blue garter or shoes.

Brown

  • Brown is the color of the earth sunflowers blossom from and is a complimentary hue to incorporate in a sunflower-themed wedding. Use brown clay pots to hold your sunflower centerpieces. Offer a chocolate bar with a variety of sweet treats. As a favor, consider giving each guest a handful of chocolate covered sunflower seeds. Wrap these seeds in yellow tulle tied with a green or blue ribbon to complete the wedding's color scheme.
