Senior Council Fundraising Activities
The senior council in high schools is the team of students who organize events like the senior prom and homecoming dances. In order to produce these events, the senior council has to raise funds. In some schools, the school administration will match what the students raise. In other schools, it's up to the student council members to brainstorm fundraising ideas and raise all the funds on their own for events they want to sponsor.

Community Businesses
-
Encourage philanthropy amongst the businesses in the community. Create student publications such as a school newspaper or magazine and charge local businesses to advertise in the publication. Charge enough to cover your own printing costs and make a profit. You can also turn student council members into sales professionals for local businesses. Agree with local business owners on a commission structure for encouraging patronage. Create flyers with your school's code on them. For every customer that you bring in to the establishments, the business owners pay the student council a percentage of the sale.
Children's Events
-
Another method of getting members of the community involved in your fundraising events is by appealing to their children. Balloon sales will create a frenzy. One child with a balloon curved into the shape of a dog will get another child begging for one just like it. The student council could also rent a few games and party equipment such as inflatable castles, popcorn machines, cotton candy machines and clowns and have a small fair on the school's campus and charge parents to bring their kids. Provide lots of sweet candies at the concession booth and raise money via admission and food.

Baked Goods
-
Every member in the student council can contribute a family recipe to a student bake sale. Bake sales work for churches, community centers and Girl Scout troops. With permission from the food administration manager in your school's cafeteria, you can create baked goods in large quantities. Rent a booth at a local fair, conference or flea market. Dress it up in your school colors and sell treats to raise money.
Athletic Activities
-
Athletic activities are popular fundraisers because the members of the community can get involved in the events. Walk-a-thons and run-a-thons are strategies that are even used by medical philanthropic organizations. Your school can add its own twist and combine athletics to create your own triathlon. Accept donations to sponsor the event. Save the left-over money for other projects.
