If your friend or family member's birthday is approaching and you want to give her a unique gift, create a birthday drawing. Drawings can be silly or serious and may involve pictures of your friend, birthday objects or your favorite places. For an extra special gift, frame the picture.
Cake and Presents
Draw pictures of birthday-themed objects, such as a cake and presents. When drawing cakes and presents, use bright, exciting colors. Make the cake pink, blue or yellow and add candles. Give presents contrasting colors, such as a blue present with red bows or a green present with black bows. Cakes and presents are easy to draw and involve the basic shapes of squares and circles. Draw a cake by holding a circle in perspective, drawing lines from the edges of the circle. Connect the lines with a round shape that matches the curve of the top of the cake. Draw a present by drawing a square and turning it into a cube using the tools of perspective.
Draw Your Friend
An artistic rendering of your friend's face and body makes an excellent birthday gift because it focuses on your friend. Drawings can be stick figures with the correct color of eyes or hair, a detailed portrait drawn with premium colored pencils or a unique interpretation of your friend, such as your friend as a cowboy or animal. If desired, add yourself to the drawing or draw you and your friend in a special location. If you make a detailed drawing, use high-quality paper and materials. You may wish to frame your drawing or give it to your friend inside of a folder.
Draw at least one of your friend's favorite things on her card. If your friend loves sheep, draw a flock of sheep in a pasture. If she loves fruit, draw a fruit basket or a fruit plant. Include several drawings of your favorite things, as if you were making a collage. You can draw these things on paper or cards or draw them on top of magazines. Use markers, colored pencils or pen to make your drawings. You may wish to draw the present you would love to get your friend but could not afford, such as a fancy bicycle or a trip to Europe.
If you and your friend have a favorite place or a place where you typically spend time together, draw this place. Take a photograph of the location, such as a coffee shop, home, movie theater or park and draw the image of it on paper. Draw one specific area at the place or draw several of your favorite spots, such as ducks on the lake and the tree you used to climb. If you do not have one favorite place, draw pictures or places you want to go, such as New York City or the moon.
