Ways to Propose on Halloween
Proposing on Halloween may not be for everyone, but for those who want to pop the question on the day of tricks and treats, there are a number of fun, easy and memorable ways to do it. Few parts of a dating relationship come with as much expectation as the marriage proposal and structuring it around Halloween can provide inspiration and make it even more memorable. And if your significant other is constantly trying to guess when you'll propose, doing so on Halloween can catch her off guard, as it's before the busy holiday season when proposals are more common. So while others will be saying "Boo!" your significant other will be saying "I do."

Propose Using a Relevant Costume
-
Dress the part of a groom well before your wedding day by wearing a tuxedo for Halloween. Find a cheap tuxedo costume, or rent or buy an actual tux, without your girlfriend knowing. That way it'll be a total surprise for her to see you dressed up, at which point you can tell her you're going as a groom for Halloween. Then get down on one knee, pull out the ring and ask her to marry you.
If a tuxedo doesn't seem your style, create a custom T-shirt with a fun saying, such as "Future Mr. (insert girlfriend's name)." Another costume idea centers around you dressing like a ghost with a white sheet. When the right time appears, get down on one knee and ask your significant "Will you be my ghoul forever?"
Carve the Proposal Into a Pumpkin
-
Pop the question with a pumpkin! If you or your loved one enjoy pumpkin carving then you can easily integrate that into a proposal. First, decide whether you want to carve pumpkins together or if you want to have the pumpkin proposal carved out beforehand. If you choose to carve pumpkins together, then perhaps a romantic trip to pick pumpkins at a pumpkin patch is in order, When picking what to carve, consider carving all of the words onto one pumpkin, depending on the size, or divvy it up across a number of pumpkins, carving "Will" "you" "marry" "me?" into four different ones. If desired, place a candle in each one for an added romantic effect and place them in your home, on your doorstep or somewhere in the neighborhood where you and your significant other will encounter them.

Use Trick-or-Treaters
-
Recruit a youngster -- with parental permission, of course -- to show up at your door in costume while you're staying in and handing out Halloween candy or other goodies. Coach the kid, or kids, on how to announce he has a "treat" (the ring) for your significant other. Get down on one knee, take the ring and pop the question. Depending on the child's age, he can possibly photograph or videotape the event, preserving the special moment for ever.
Propose With a Food Dish
-
Incorporate the ring into a Halloween-themed food dish, either as the centerpiece or as an accent. This could be in the form of a Jell-O mold that's shaped like a hand with the engagement ring on the ring finger. When incorporating any type of ring into a food dish make sure that no one eats it before you have a chance to propose. It may sound foolish, but you can rest assured that it's probably happened before.
Remake a Horror Film With a Happy Ending
-
Suggest you have dinner and a movie at home on Halloween. This will ensure you can give candy out to trick-or-treaters but also have some alone time to watch the newest horror wedding proposal film from Hollywood's newest director: You. Find a well-known horror film, such as "The Ring" or the "Bride of Chucky," and then set out on creating a more romantic remake, somehow incorporating a proposal into your adaptation. Don't worry if it feels campy, that's how many Halloween horror films are. Pulling this idea off will take a little more time and thought on your part, but you're proposing and so no time spent is time wasted. Your efforts will surely be recognized by your new fiance.
Dance Your Proposal
-
Channel your inner Michael Jackson and do a portion of the dance from the "Thriller" music video, ending your choreographed zombie number by getting down on one knee and proposing. If you're concerned about performance anxiety, tape yourself doing the dance and proposing and upload it to YouTube. Then, when you're together with your special someone, play the video clip and propose at the same time you do in the video.
Propose In A Cemetery
-
Go for the ultimate in spooky and throw your future fiance off the trail by proposing in a cemetery. Some cemeteries are remarkably beautiful in the day and even a slight bit romantic as the sun sets and night begins. If you do decide to take the plunge at a graveyard, consider dropping off a bottle of wine or a picnic basket at the cemetery before so that you can celebrate in style afterwards. Just remember to behave in a respectful and honorable way given your surroundings.
Ask With Halloween Props.
-
Leave a trail of fake blood or fake bloody limbs for your loved one to follow through the house. It's a Halloween-themed homage to the well-known romantic trail of roses and can snake through the house to either a casket-shaped box holding the ring or to you. Either way, when she gets to the end of the trail she can begin a new phase of her life.
Use A Mock Headstone
-
Create a mock headstone out of cardboard, Styrofoam or other supplies that, in addition to listing the names and birthdates of you and your loved one, also reads, "Engaged on (insert date of proposal)." Set it up on your front lawn or a neighbor's lawn (make sure you get the lawn owner's permission first) and when your significant other notices the names and engagement date on the headstone fall to one knee and propose.
Sugarcoat The Question With Sweets
-
Make Halloween-themed cookies or cupcakes and spell out "Will you marry me?" in icing. If supplies are limited, simply spell out "Marry me?" Best of all, with this idea after your loved one says "yes," you both have sweets to celebrate with.
