Easter Hats to Make for Boys

Save

In the early weeks of spring, children's crafts often focus on Easter. Since decorating Easter hats primarily requires using pastel colors, flowers and baby animals, young boys might reject such crafts, thinking they are only for girls. A little imagination may be required to get boys interested in participating. Avoid pink and purple, instead opting for green, blue, yellow and orange. The creation of an acceptable Easter hat for a boy is a fun and creative task.

Candy Party Hats

  • An ordinary birthday party hat provides a perfect base for Easter decorating. They are available in any color and offer endless possibilities for a boy. Glue foil-wrapped Easter eggs to the hat. Attach a hollow plastic Easter egg to a piece of ribbon and glue it to the top of the hat, letting it hang down. Fill the Easter egg with lightweight candy, such as jellybeans. No boy will refuse a candy hat.

Baseball Caps

  • Nothing excites a sports-minded young boy in the spring more than the coming of baseball season. Why not use this to create a fun Easter hat? Use a plain white or a brightly colored baseball cap. Glue foam Easter shapes to the hat or use Easter stickers to decorate the hat. You could even attach bunny ears in any color to the hat.

Bunny Ears

  • Buying a brown plush bunny ears hat is a good idea for boys who do not want to look too cute on Easter Sunday. You can make one yourself using brown felt cut into the shape of ears and attached to perhaps a top hat or any hat of a boy's choosing. Attaching a small foil-wrapped Easter bunny somewhere on the hat gives it a festive touch.

Construction Paper Insect Hat

  • An Easter hat need not be blatantly Easter-ish. Spring with all its wonders includes the emergence of a favorite boy topic: bugs. A boy can make an Easter hat using a long strip of green construction paper stapled to make a headband. Pipe cleaners twisted into a spiral make antennae. Make an insect face of any kind using either foam shapes or bits of colored paper. A fun touch with a Easter theme could be some pastel-colored glitter on the headband.
