Dinner Ideas for a Girls Get Together

When your girlfriends head to your house for a get together, you want to provide them with a filling, tasty dinner. The options for a girl's-night-in dinner are plentiful, from involving everyone in the preparation to serving cozy, comfort foods. Select a dinner everyone will enjoy to leave them looking forward to their next get together at your place.

  • Host a make-your-own pizza dinner as the theme for your next get together with the girls. Purchase one pre-made personal-size crust for each girl and several toppings. Provide bowls of pizza sauce, mozzarella cheese, pepperoni, cooked and diced chicken breast, chopped peppers, black olives and cooked sausage. Have everyone make their pizza soon after arriving and pop them in the oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 25 minutes. Remove from the oven and slice with a pizza cutter.

  • Individual potpies are a cozy dinner to prepare for your gal-pals. Purchase ceramic potpie baking dishes and pre-made piecrusts. Boil chopped chicken or beef with peas, celery, carrots and potatoes until all are well done. Follow a pre-made packet's instructions to make the potpies' chicken or beef gravy. Line the inside of each baking dish with a piecrust and pour the drained meat and veggie mix inside. Pour gravy over the top to fill each bowl before placing a second piecrust over the top. Pinch the edges of the piecrusts together and bake at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 40 minutes. Serve the potpies in their baking dishes, on plates, so your friends do not burn themselves.

Finger Foods

  • Prepare a big platter of finger foods for your next night in with your girlfriends. Chopped fruits and vegetables will cover the fresh food portion of the platter. Provide dressings for any fresh veggies you serve. For meat, provide sliced breaded chicken breasts with barbecue sauce or honey mustard dip, and chilled shrimp with cocktail sauce. Lastly, add a sweet treat to serve as the dessert such as brownie or fudge squares. Either sit down around the platter and let everyone dig in, or provide each friend with a plate.

  • Mugs of soup are a warm, comforting dinner to serve the girls for movie night. Prepare a large batch of soup in a pot or slow cooker. If you do not have a favorite soup recipe, purchase several cans of your favorite commercial soup instead. Sprinkle a bit of pepper or hot sauce into the canned soup to dress it up a bit. Serve each friend her soup in a large mug. Provide oyster or saltine crackers to make the soup more filling.
