Due to many extenuating circumstances, women sometimes find themselves in particular need of financial help to find a home to rent or purchase. These programs are in place to help women get back on their feet and out from under the weight of financial stressors. Does this Spark an idea?

Government Grants for Homeownership
-
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development offers a number of need-based grants that can help women get out of financial hardships that threaten their ability to buy a home. These are typically offered in the form of vouchers. In rural areas of the United States, women have access to grants such as the Housing and Community Facilities Program. These grants can help women find homes or fund repairs to their existing homes.
Government Rental Assistance
-
If buying a home is not an option at this time, you might be interested in finding federal assistance that can help you find a home to rent. Grant programs offered by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development provide rental housing to women and low-income families in need of help. This can be in the form of onetime supplements, monthly vouchers or exclusive need-based access to affordable homes. Aside from federal funding, you may also find state or county assistance in your area.

Private Lending Companies
-
Government grants are often limited in amount and scope. Unfortunately, those who need help might exceed the amount of assistance available to give. For those who do not qualify for government funding, private lending options might be the best alternative. This is an option for women who are experiencing temporary hardships and can prepare to pay back the loan with interest. Most times, private loans are not particularly directed at housing assistance, but they can be applied for this purpose.
For Single Mothers
-
Single mothers are often able to demonstrate exceptional need, especially if they are not receiving child support or have had other financial hardships such as personal or family illness. There are financial help programs directed especially for single mothers in need. For example, the Our Families Our Future organization in Cheyenne, Wyoming, provides shelter and work programs for current and expectant single mothers that can lead to finding stable housing and a better life. There are organizations like this all over the country, such as Catholic Charities USA and Vision House.
