Moses & the Ten Commandments for Children
Moses and the Ten Commandments is a story many children learn in Sunday School, or at a private school. Teaching many of these lessons to children is easy, but a couple may be difficult to explain. Depending on the age of the children in your class or at home, you can use a variety of methods to teaching about Moses and the Ten Commandments.

Read
-
Read the story of Moses and the Ten Commandments from the Bible. Choose a Bible version that is appropriate for your children and is easy to understand. You can also choose from a wide variety of books written for children on the subject of the Ten Commandments. Some books go into a little more depth for older children, while some are simple picture books for younger children.
Discuss
-
Discuss the Ten Commandments with your children. Some commands are easy for children to recognize as wrong, such as "thou shalt not steal," or "thou shalt not lie.a" They can even understand a simple concept of coveting if you use the words "wanting" or "envying." If you are not sure about explaining the concept of adultery, you may want to ask them what they think they know first. Sometimes children know a lot more than you realize, or they may have enough of an understanding suited to their age. You can also discuss what went on at the bottom of the mountain with Aaron and the rest of the Israelites, while Moses was at the top getting the Ten Commandments. Ask your kids how many of those Ten Commandments were broken.

Memorization
-
Have your kids memorize the Ten Commandments. You can sum them up in a few words so they don't have to memorize the entire passage of scripture from Exodus 20. Condense the longer Commandments into one easy-to-understand sentence for memorization.
Crafts
-
Many children enjoy making crafts and doing crafts with your kids is a good way to reinforce a lesson or a way to help them remember it. A variety of craft projects can be done with children that relay the Moses and the Ten Commandments story. Make cardboard cut outs of the tablets and write the Ten Commandments on them, give them coloring pages on different commands, or have the children draw pictures of people obeying the Ten Commandments.
