Inexpensive Funeral Flowers
When someone you love passes away, it can be difficult to make plans for a funeral. Likewise, you may be planning a funeral for a friend who has recently lost a loved one of their own. Whatever the situation, you are likely to want flowers included at the funeral. Flowers are a symbol of love, beauty and continued life. Although many floral arrangements for funerals are expensive, several types of flowers are both beautiful and affordable.

Who are the Flowers For?
-
Determine who the flowers are for, as well as type of funeral, before sending any kind of flowers. In some cultures, sending flowers to a funeral may not be appropriate. Other cultures, such as the Japanese, require large amounts of flowers for a traditional funeral. Some cultures accept flowers at funerals, but may take offense to certain colored flowers. Red flowers, for instance, should not be sent to a Buddhist funeral, but white flowers are welcome.
Carnations
-
Carnations are available in a wide variety of colors, making them ideal for funeral arrangements where you wish to display the deceased's favorite color. Carnations are typically very inexpensive, and are long-lasting even after cutting. These flowers are widely available at almost any time of the year. Carnations, in general, depict love and fascination. Different colored carnations have various meanings. For example, white carnations mean "pure love," while light red carnations are an indication of admiration.

Daisies
-
Daisies are another type of inexpensive flower. As a rule, daisies are meant to depict innocence, which is appropriate if you are choosing flowers for a child's funeral. They may also be appreciated at the funeral of a woman. Daisies are attractive when mixed in an arrangement with other flowers. They are available in many colors, such as the traditional white with a yellow center, orange, red and light pink. You may want to send daisies to a family after a funeral, too, since daisies are generally meant to encourage cheer.
Tulips
-
Tulips bear a slight resemblance to roses, but they are much cheaper. Tulip bulbs gradually bloom into large, showy flowers with six petals each. If you are sending flowers for a funeral in the spring, consider tulips. Most tulips bloom from the month of March to the month of May. Tulips send a message of love to the recipient. They also have the added benefit of a wide availability of colors, such as purple, yellow, white, pink and orange.
Flowers to Avoid
-
If you are sending flowers on a budget, avoid flowers that are traditionally over-priced, such as roses. Although roses are beautiful and carry significant meaning, many florists generally price them higher than other flowers. Other expensive flowers include lilies and orchids. In general, any flower that is purchased out of its normal growing season will be expensive. Ask your florist which flowers are in season at the current time. These flowers will likely be cheaper and fresher.
