Crafts About Jesus for Kids
Whether you teach Sunday School, Vacation Bible School or you just want some creative time at home with your kids, there are a wide variety of options for you to choose from when planning crafts about Jesus for kids. Teach children about Jesus' life, his teachings and his influence in the world and at the same time let them have fun with a creative activity that they will love to show off.

Manger Ornaments
-
Teach children about Jesus' humble birth and help them decorate their Christmas trees in honor of him. Have children make an open-topped square out of three craft sticks; one horizontally across the bottom and one vertically on either side. They can use a dab of glue at the corners to attach the sticks together, then add two more angled to a point at the top to make the basic shape of a house or barn. The children should trace this shape onto construction paper and cut it out, then draw a picture of Jesus as a baby with his parents in the center of the paper. Glue the paper to the craft stick frame and add a yarn loop for hanging. Each time they look at the ornament they can remember the baby who was born in a manger to save them from their sins.
God's Love
-
Children will learn the true meaning of God's love when they study John 3:16 from the Bible and learn that God loved them so much that he sent his son, Jesus, to live on Earth and die for them. Remind them of this love of God and the sacrifice of Jesus when they make lace-up hearts. Give the children two pieces of craft foam shaped like hearts with holes punched around the perimeter. Have them glue a typed-out copy of John 3:16 to the front of one heart and then use yarn or shoe laces to "sew" the two hearts together. Start at the top and lace the yarn in and out of the holes in the two pieces of foam to connect them together. When they near the top, they can use a small amount of cotton stuffing to stuff the hearts and then finish sewing them together, adding a loop at the top for hanging.

Miraculous Teachings
-
Jesus spent much of his life on Earth traveling around and teaching people about God and Christianity. Help children remember these lessons when they make a craft about the miracle Jesus performed when he transformed a small amount of bread and fish to be enough to feed 5,000 people. Take a piece of construction paper and fold one short edge in toward the center by 4 inches. Then make a second 4-inch fold going in the opposite direction, like folding a fan or an accordion-style fold. Continue folding until the whole paper is folded entirely, and hold the folds together. Help the children draw the shape of a fish onto the paper, overlapping the design slightly so that it meets the folded edges of the paper. Explain to them how Jesus turned a single fish into many using his miraculous powers; then cut around the shape of the fish, going through all of the layers of the paper and unfold it to reveal how one fish became many. This paper doll chain style craft will help them remember that Jesus can work miracles in their lives and provide for their needs.
What Would Jesus Do?
-
The phrase, "What would Jesus Do?" is a reminder to Christians to behave in the way that Jesus would if he were alive. Let children come up with their own examples when they draw several pictures demonstrating acts of kindness that they can perform for others. They could draw a picture of themselves playing nicely with a younger sibling, donating used toys to charity or helping a parent with chores around the house. Then they can bind their drawings together into a little booklet to keep with them as a reminder of what Jesus expects of them and how they can be more like him in their daily lives.
