Wedding Flowers: White Orchid
Picking out the right wedding flowers can be one of the more challenging escapades in the wedding planning process. Wedding flowers are often some of the biggest expenses of the wedding, so you have to make sure that the price does not outweigh the benefit of the flowers. White orchids are one wedding flower that can go with any wedding and will not break the bank.

Price
-
According to the Bridal Association of America, the average total cost of wedding flowers is around $700. This includes ornamental, bouquet, flower girl flowers, and any other normal flower usage during a wedding. However, depending on the vendor or florist, White orchids can cost as much as $100 less than a traditional floral arrangement. Purchasing white orchids online can further reduce the price if you are willing to put your flowers in the hands of delivery services. For white orchids, expect to spend no more than $600 on the total price.
Placement
-
White orchids are usually relatively fragile. You do not want to place them in a position where guests or the children of guests will be tempted to play with or touch them. Even a light squeeze can result in a discoloration in the white orchid's petals. Place the orchids in glass globes or in higher positions so they are not easily reachable. When your flower girl tosses the petals, make sure that she does not grab firm fistfuls and throws them, but rather, scoops up a small handful and sprinkles them. This way, the flowers will retain their beauty.

Color
-
Usually growing naturally in regions of Asia, the white orchid comes in several different variations. Of course, the pure white orchid shows petals without any color at all. The petals literally are devoid of pigmentation. Some white orchids have a small red coloring towards the bloom and have thinner petals, but these are rarer still. Because white orchids have no pigmentation, they can easily become stained. Again, keep them away from wandering fingers or any danger of becoming soiled for them to maintain their maximum clarity.
Symbolism
-
Some orchids are symbols of lust or passion; some are even symbolic of death or the afterlife. The white orchid, however, is most commonly thought to be a flower of purity, unequaled beauty and untainted love. For this reason, the white orchid is often used in weddings, not just for the beauty, but for what it symbolizes on a deeper level.
