Phototherapy
-
Phototherapy is a treatment for irritations on facial skin due to psoriasis. It reduces the itching and irritation. UVB rays are used to penetrate the skin. Exposing irritated facial skin to the UVB rays for a set period of time slows the growth of the affected skin cells. Phototherapy must be done by a doctor.
Antihistamines
-
Oral antihistamines can treat facial skin irritations that are the result of hives or allergic reactions. The antihistamines are taken by mouth and generally provide moderate results. Purchase over-the-counter antihistamines and follow the directions on the box. The other option is to obtain a prescription from your doctor. Follow the doctor's instructions for dosage and usage information.

Moisturizing Cream
-
Use a soothing, moisturizing lotion on irritated facial skin. Apply once or twice per day. Choose a cream that is not highly fragranced. Fragrances will irritate your skin further. Lotions that contain calamine, camphor or sweet-almond oil are excellent options. The base of the moisturizing cream should be oil or water.
Anti-itch Cream
-
An anti-itch cream relieves itch and discomfort on inflamed and irritated skin. Choose a cream that contains at least 1 percent of hydrocortisone. Apply the hydrocortisone cream to your facial skin one to three times per day. This type of cream promotes healing along with eliminating itch. Any redness should subside as well.
