1920s Wedding - Style and Grooming
-
For a 1920s wedding, the bride does not have to wear white. Off white, pale gray-blue, yellow and even black are appropriate choices. Flapper dresses or dresses with dropped waistlines should be selected for the bride and her bridesmaids along with veiled hats, tiaras or headbands. Dark eye shadow, defined brows and bright red lipstick should be considered for makeup. Long pearls or other beads should be worn that stretch to waist length.
For the groom and groomsmen, purchase zoot suits. If the bride is wearing a lighter color, the groom and groomsmen may consider wearing a pale colored suits and bow-ties corresponding with the wedding colors.
1920s Wedding - Location and Decorations
-
The location of the wedding can include anywhere from an outdoor garden wedding to a rented hall and can be decorated in the common colors of the era: black, red and white. Unlike a shabby chic wedding, 1920's wedding style should focus on Hollywood glam rather than country bumpkin.
Decorate tables in silk white, black or red tablecloths; layering them for a more dramatic effect. At the reception set on each table an old, working Polaroid camera and encourage everyone to take pictures throughout the night. For music both old upbeat and soft jazz should be played. While other beverages should be serves, make martini's the star of the evening by having many selections available.

Shabby Chic Wedding - Style and Grooming
-
Have your dress cut off at the knee and ripe with tulle and lace. Affordable vintage shabby-chic style gowns can be purchased online at Etsy.com and websites such as ModCloth.com and at local thrift or vintage stores. Purchase a veiled pill-box style hat and arrange it angled on the side of the head. Large flowers can also be used to substitute the hat.
Bridesmaids can wear stylish, floral dresses either above the knee or at floor-length to contrast with the bride's gown.
Not much has to change for the groom's attire except for the loss of his jacket. The addition of a bowtie instead of tie, top-hat and cane will also add much to the ambiance.

Throw a wonderful shabby chic style wedding outdoors or in an old, decorated barn with distressed furniture. An old barn is a perfect setting for a vintage, shabby-chic style wedding. Arrange all of the, preferably white, tables with an excess of white doily's and long lace throws. Contrast the white with plates, candlesticks and flowers of the corresponding wedding colors. Decorate with mismatched candles, candle holders and even chairs. Hang lace and vintage picture frames around the room and light by candle when it becomes late. If this is not possible, hang white Chinese lanterns from the ceiling instead.
Serve a cupcake style wedding cake in pale pinks and Tiffany blue colors.
