Wilson Bickford is an artist who paints landscapes, wildlife, still life and portraits using oil paints. He offers workshops and lessons, art classes and step-by-step instructions on a website, instructional DVDs and books. His workshops take place mainly in the northeastern United States, but he continually updates his online lessons for aspiring painters near and far.

Workshops

  • Workshops are where painters can come for three days to learn directly from Wilson Bickford. New and returning painters are welcome, for a fee. Some workshops take place in scenic inns, where fees include lodging and meals. Bickford selects workshop themes.

Classes

  • Art classes take place over the course of three or four hours in one day. Students learn to paint a selected scene or subject directly from Wilson Bickford. Classes take place at public libraries, YMCA's, community centers and museums.

Free Online Lessons

  • Videos depicting Wilson Bickford painting are available on his website. In each step-by-step video, Bickford demonstrates and describes how to paint sunsets, wildlife, landscapes or flowers. Shorter lessons demonstrate how to paint elements of a landscape, such as rocks, water or clouds. He begins with a blank canvas and clearly describes what colors and brush strokes to use, offering painting tips as he goes.

Instructional Materials

  • Wilson Bickford has developed a line of instructional and artistic materials, including DVD's, packets, books and paints. DVD titles include "Lakeside Birches," "New England Winter," and "Let's Paint An Old Barn." Packet titles include "Monument Valley," "Sundown Lighthouse" and "Fly Like an Eagle."
