Staff training includes both practical task and project training and safety training. Tasks and project training, along with safety training, should be completed by all employees in a business, whether they work in the office or in a factory producing the products. A single training session at the time of employment may not be sufficient to practice and uphold the company’s safety rules and procedures.

Purpose of Employee Training

A new employees may be subjected to a training period when he is hired for a specific job position. The training can include learning about the company’s specific rules and guidelines in regards to how the tasks and projects must be completed and may include basic safety training in the office or factory. The purpose of employee training is to ensure that workers are doing their work to the best of their abilities, are able to troubleshoot projects or tasks individually, and are kept safe at all times. If the employee training is functional, the company may gain recognition for the training program.

Maintaining Training Guidelines

Since new employees are often subject to a training program at the beginning of employment, the information learned during this period may quickly be forgotten if it is not upheld or used frequently. The information may quickly be forgotten, especially if the employee must learn pages of new information pertaining to the business, along with the company’s safety measures and guidelines.

Types of Training

A company’s training program can differ greatly from other companies’ training programs. Some companies provide training before the employee starts working, while other companies train the employee as projects come and go. Training can include projects and tasks, video clips and tests or examinations.

Safety Training in the Office

A small business may only operate out of a single office space. Even if the business does not have any large pieces of equipment in the office, there are still safety concerns that employees must be made aware of. Equipment running all night, such as fax machines and computer systems, should be checked on a daily basis to ensure they running correctly. Also, computer wires can be exposed, filing cabinets can be unstable and office furniture, like desks and chairs, can be broken. Employees should be trained in checking these things as part of their job position training.
