Salix, Iowa is a small town in the western portion of the state located within Woodbury County. The population of the city is under 1,000 people and is only a few blocks long, totaling less than one square mile. A town of this size doesn't have many eatery options. In fact, there is just one restaurant in the town. Salix, however, is sandwiched between two cities with plenty of eatery options, Sergeants Bluff and Sloan, Iowa.

Walker's restaurant and tavern is located off Old Highway 75 on Tipson Street. This is Salix, Iowa's only restaurant. According to a manager at the restaurant, the establishment offers mostly American-type cuisine and fish dishes as well. The restaurant also serves as the local bar as well. Visitors can enjoy different sandwiches and burgers among other types of menu and appetizer items.
Aggies BBQ (Sergeant Bluff)

Located eight miles north along Old Highway 75 is Sergeant Bluff, Iowa. While this is still small town, it offers more eatery choices than Salix and is just a short drive. Mainstream restaurants such as Dairy Queen and Subway are located here. It also offers a few private restaurants that may be worth the drive for some unique food. Aggies BBQ is one of those a log-cabin type building that cooks up some of the only local BBQ fare in the immediate region. Menu items here include mini sandwiches, more than 30 different homemade soups and a wide array of side dishes. Entree menu is wide ranging including things from BBQ beef brisket to stuffed pork tenderloin and Alfredo pastas.

Ayaan Indian Cuisine (Sergeant Bluff)

Featured in the Sioux City Journal, Sergeant Bluff's newest restaurant as of 2011, Ayaan Indian Cuisine brings a different type of fare to that was missing from the area's landscape. You don't expect to find many Indian restaurants in Iowa, but Sergeant Bluff is home to one. The cuisine features dishes from Northern India in the Punjabi style. The owners have held back the spice in many of the dishes customary of Indian Cuisine. Curry dishes and lentils are among the restaurant's highlights.
Sloan, Iowa Restaurants

Located six miles south of Salix is Sloan, Iowa, which offers a few more restaurant choices as well. Restaurant choices here are limited to private enterprises. Don't expect to find any fast-food restaurants here. Sloan is also located just off of Old Highway 75. Eatery choices here include Sloan Cafe and B&R's Pizza Post.
