The Sony Handycam includes an array of manual and automatic features, including focusing and exposure modes. The camcorder's Easy Mode feature places the device in automatic mode, eliminating the hassle of manually focusing the camcorder and manually controlling its built-in functions. Like other controls on your Sony Handycam, you can easily turn Easy Mode on or off.
The Sony Handycam's Easy Mode on/off button is on the left side of the camcorder, to the left of the Power switch. The button is labeled "Easy," and is a simple push button. The Easy Mode button is not removable, and there is no other way to switch your Sony Handycam from automatic to manual mode -- and vice versa -- other than using this button.
Press the "Easy" button once to turn Easy Mode off. You can now manually control your camcorder's controls via the Home menu. Manual controls include setting the camcorder's focusing, changing exposure settings, using the spot meter, setting the white balance control, turning on the night shot mode and adjusting color settings. Press the "Easy" button again to turn the function on and place the camcorder in the automatic mode.
When the Easy Mode is on, a blue colored box with the wording "EASY" appears on your Sony Handycam's display in the upper left-hand side of the screen. This indicator only appears on the display when the mode is active. Each time you press the "Easy" button, the EASY indicator goes on or off.
If your Sony Handycam doesn't switch from Easy Mode to manual, your camcorder is not functioning properly and may need servicing. To troubleshoot the problem, turn your camcorder off and then on again, and then try to turn off the Easy Mode. If the button still doesn't work, consult your camcorder's owner's manual for a listing of authorized Sony repair service centers, and then take your camcorder to one of the centers in your area for repair.
