Toshiba TV & Mac Compatibility
Mac computers can be compatible with Toshiba TV sets. However, the connection between the two devices will depend on the model of TV and Mac computer being used. Also, you may need some additional hardware to complete the connection, especially if your Mac uses Apple's Mini-Display Port for monitor output.

Purpose
-
Connecting a Mac computer to a Toshiba TV allows users to view the display of the computer on a TV screen. This is especially useful for watching streaming video from services such as Netflix, Hulu Plus or YouTube on a TV. It is also helpful for video editors who want preview how their work will appear when played on a TV instead of a computer monitor.
Monitor Output Connections
-
Older Mac computers can be connected to a Toshiba TV using the monitor output, which can be in either the VGA or DVI format. You will need a male-to-male VGA or DVI cable for this connection. However, the Toshiba TV must have VGA or DVI monitor ports for this connection. If the TV does not have these ports, you will need an additional converter to change the VGA or DVI to a video format that is compatible with the TV, such as HDMI, component video, composite video or S-Video.

Mini-Display Port Adapter
-
Many new Mac computers do not have VGA or DVI ports for monitor output and instead use Apple's Mini-Display Port. For these computers, you will need a Mini-Display Port adapter, which will convert the signal to a VGA or DVI port. These adapters can be purchased from Apple, either online or at an Apple Store location.
Audio Output
-
Audio is not outputted to the TV when using the previously described connections. If you want to output the audio from your Mac computer to the TV along with the video, you will need a 3.5mm mini-stereo-to-RCA audio cable. Plug the 3.5mm mini-stereo end of the cable into the "Headphones" or "Speakers" jack on the Mac and then connect the color-coded RCA audio cable ends to the same video input channels on the TV.
USB TV Out Devices
-
Additionally, you can purchase a USB-powered device that enables the Mac to send the video signal of the computer display to a TV. This is the best method for connecting a Mac to a standard-definition Toshiba TV, which does not have the VGA or DVI ports that high-definition Toshiba TVs offer.
