ViewSonic VG920 Monitor Has No Power
The ViewSonic VG920 LCD monitor offers a small LED along the right side of the front of the unit to indicate the presence of power. An orange light indicates the monitor is off, while a green light appears when the unit is on. Power issues commonly occur from a loose power cable or dead wall outlet, so verify that the power source is active and connected properly before moving on to more intensive troubleshooting.

Outdated or Corrupted Drivers
-
Like other installed computer devices, your ViewSonic monitor requires drivers to communicate properly with the computer's motherboard. Over time these drivers could become corrupted or outdated, resulting in inefficient communication between the monitor and computer. Search for updated drivers for your VG920 monitor, and run frequent malware scans to prevent a virus or other harmful program from damaging your system's files.
Video Cable
-
For your monitor to communicate with the computer, it requires a video cable to connect to the installed graphics card. This cable may work loose over time, especially if you move the computer or monitor. Verify that the video cable is connected securely to the monitor and the port in the back of the computer. Inspect the cord for signs of internal damage, such as frayed wires or sharp kinks. Replace as necessary.

Video Card
-
Your ViewSonic monitor requires the installed graphics card to translate data and information for display on the screen. If the graphics card in your computer fails, no information will reach the monitor, and your screen will appear dead. As you troubleshoot a non-functioning monitor, plug a second, working monitor into your graphics port and check for an image. If the second monitor also appears dead, your graphics card may have failed and will require replacement.
Faulty Monitor
-
Your ViewSonic monitor, while a complicated piece of technology, is not immune from failure on its own. A power surge can short-circuit the electronics inside the casing, as can liquid spills. The monitor also generates heat as it operates, and if not permitted to vent properly, this heat build-up can cause the unit to malfunction. Contact the manufacturer if your monitor is still under warranty, or consult a computer repair technician for further diagnosis and assistance.
