Fuzzy Display on a MacBook
Although MacBooks come with glossy widescreen displays that support different resolutions, images and text usually appear blurry and unclear if the display settings aren't configured properly. Setting the correct resolution to match the LCD display ensures the aspect ration and refresh rate is maximized to improve display quality. MacBooks come with Intel graphics cards that output the full native resolution on the built-in display. However, if text and images are unclear, Apple provides ways to improve display quality.

Resolution
-
An incorrect resolution selection is one of the major causes of fuzzy or blurry displays on a MacBook. Resolution varies depending on the size of the MacBook's LCD; however, larger screens usually have higher resolutions. Adjusting your MacBook's resolution can increase or decrease the number of files, folders and desktop items displayed. If you open Displays from the System Preferences, select a high resolution to sharpen images. Smaller resolutions other than the maximum resolution supported increase file and icon sizes; however, they lead to fuzzy and unclear images and text.
Font Smoothing
-
In some cases, text on the MacBook's LCD screen appears fuzzy if the font smoothing feature is disabled. Font smoothing sharpens the edges of text to improve legibility. If you open System Preferences from the Apple menu, click "General" or "Appearance." If you select the "Use LCD font smoothing when available" option, text will appear sharper, especially with programs and applications that support the font smoothing feature.

Cleaning
-
In some cases, MacBook display quality diminishes if the screen is dirty. A MacBook's screen attracts dust, smudges and fingerprints that affect the quality of images and text. If the screen is dirty, turn off the computer. Lightly dampen a clean, soft, lint-free cloth in water and wipe the screen gently. Spraying liquid directly on the screen or using abrasive substances such as glass cleaner can damage the LCD screen.
Tips
-
If the images are still fuzzy and unclear, installing the latest system updates using Software Update found on the Apple menu installs graphics card drivers and system components to improve the MacBook's performance. If the display problem persists, the issue may lie with the installed graphics card, so contact Apple for additional troubleshooting and possible repairs.
