In 2001, Mazda launched the Tribute SUV, which was little more than a rebadged Ford Escape. The Tribute underwent its first redesign in 2008, giving the model a new look, though the engines -- the standard, 2.3-liter four-cylinder and the optional, 3.0-liter V-6 -- carried over from the previous generation. These two engines shared the recommended type of oil, but the V-6 held 1.5 quarts more oil than the four-cylinder.
Oil Type and Capacity
Mazda recommended using 5W-20 engine oil with the API starburst in the 2008 Tribute. The 2.3-liter, four-cylinder engine required 4.5 quarts of oil to refill it, while the V-6 needed 6 quarts.
