The thumb throw gives you another short- to medium-distance toss to add to your arsenal. Think hitchhiker with a snap.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Hold your hand parallel to the ground with your palm facing up.

  2. Step 2

Stick your thumb out like you're hitchhiking.

  3. Step 3

Place your thumb on the inside edge of the disc.

  4. Step 4

Curl your fingers over the outside of the disc. The disc will lie on your forearm when held correctly.

  5. Step 5

Pull your arm back by rotating your shoulder.

  6. Step 6

Keep the disc parallel with the ground.

  7. Step 7

    Begin your throwing motion.

  8. Step 8

    Snap your wrist.

  9. Step 9

Allow the last point of contact to be your thumb.

  10. Step 10

Release the disc directly in front of you.

  11. Step 11

Follow through with your arm motion.

Tips & Warnings
  • Rely on spin, not muscle, for a good throw.
  • If the disc rolls over on to its side when flying, try dropping your throwing shoulder lower than your other shoulder.
  • This throw works better with a disc weighing at least 150 grams.
