How to Align a CRT Projection TV
Rear projection televisions use a series of three cathode ray tubes, aligned to generate a cohesive image. Over time, vibration and mechanical settling causes these CRTs to become misaligned, necessitating adjustment. Fortunately, all rear-projection CRT televisions offer this convergence by using the television's remote control. Once completed, the image should be devoid of color fringing and appear solid and crisp.

1
Turn on the television using the set's remote control. Press the "Menu" or "Setup" button to access the setup options.

2
Scroll along the setup options list until you see "Convergence." Highlight this option and click on it, using the "OK" or "Enter" button at the center of the directional pad on the remote.

3
Examine the screen's crosshatch grid. Look for areas of the screen where you see other colors surrounding the white lines comprising the grid. You should not see red or blue fringes around these white lines.
-
4
Navigate to the intersections along the grid. Press the button on the remote that selects between the red and blue gun adjustment. Consult the owner's manual for which buttons these correspond to on the remote.

Slowly move the directional pad to the right or left, so the selected color aligns perfectly with the white lines. Repeat at every section of the grid, until perfect alignment is achieved.

Tips & Warnings
It is normal for the blue gun's lines to appear slightly out of focus. Manufacturers often do this to enhance the appearance of white on the television's color spectrum.
Never leave a static convergence grid up for more than 30 minutes at any given time. There is the possibility of mild burn-in, making the grid visible on every program you watch.
