How to Block an Incoming Gmail

How to Block an Incoming Gmail thumbnail
Filter unwanted senders so their messages don't reach your inbox.

Gmail's email service uses automatic spam filtering to help fight junk mail. If you're still receiving mail from an unwanted sender, however, you can block the messages from reaching your inbox. While Gmail does not have a block button, you can use a filter to re-route incoming messages to your Trash so that you never see them in your inbox. A filter can be created to automatically delete a specific email address or a domain. You'll need to access the site on your PC rather than from a mobile device to complete the task.

Instructions

    • 1

Point your browser to gmail.com. Enter your email address and password, then click "Sign In."

    • 2

Click the "Create a Filter" link, next to the "Search" box located near the top of your page.

    • 3

Type the email address in the "From" box. If you wish to filter a domain name, type "@" followed by the domain name. Click "Next Step."

    • 4

Click the check box next to "Delete It." Click "Create Filter" to finish and return to your inbox.
