Believe in your intelligence and abilities. Do not focus on someone else's traits.

There are people that you interact with day to day whose talents, intelligence and attractiveness can be intimidating and worthy of envy. Their flaws seem to be minimal and their confidence is worn as a badge of honor. This can be a blow to your own self-assurance, thereby causing you to feel inadequate and less a wonderful person. Self-confidence is a motivating awareness of one's own potential, ability to achieve and overall contribution to life. There are some ways to let go of jealousy of others and be confident in who you are.

Instructions

    • 1

Develop firm values and a leadership mentality. The way you carry yourself stands out in a crowd. Therefore, show confidence in the way you walk, your tone of voice, what you say and how you assert yourself. Accept compliments graciously instead of being arrogant. Be a risk taker and let others know that you can master goals.

    • 2

Stop putting yourself down and do not allow others to put you down. It is easy to let others influence the perception of who you are. People like to make jokes or issue thinly veiled insults, but defend yourself with pride. If there is something you don't like about yourself, take the steps to change it instead of complaining about it. Take a more positive outlook on your future and steer clear of hurtful words.

Understand the phrase "The grass is not always greener on someone else's lawn." Your eyes may see a perfect being who has everything together, but this is sometimes a facade. No one's life is ideal; all have ups and downs. Avoid being malicious, because this treatment will take away from your personal improvement. If you get to know those whom you are jealous of, you'll find that they too have insecurities at times and are striving to be better people. Instead of resenting their achievements, be happy about their triumphs.

    • 4

Be thankful for the blessings in your life right now. Sometimes people obsess over what others have, and it can alter their self-perception and send them into depression. Focus on your achievements and be optimistic in your future endeavors. Let life itself be a motivator to live with purpose.

Pamper yourself physically and emotionally to build your confidence. The stress of life can cause a person to let themselves go. Go to a gym and work out on a regular basis, because exercise relieves stress. Eat nutritious food and get regular checkups. Splurge on a massage once in a while. Be good to yourself, and this will shine through to others.
