How to use a Super Lock Magnetic Detacher

Clothing stores prevent theft by using magnetic security tags.

Super Lock magnetic locks are security tags placed on clothing to prevent theft. The tags are very securely fastened to the clothing so that would-be thieves cannot remove them in the changing rooms. Shop assistants need to remove rags when items are purchased to prevent the alarm going off when a customer leaves the store. The Super Lock magnetic detacher is used to remove several makes and kinds of security tags. The magnetic detacher utilizes a strong magnet to hold the tag while the shop assistant removes the cover.

  Locate the clothing tag on the item of clothing.

  Turn the tag so that the side that contains the pin faces outwards. The clothing tags may differ between manufacturer, but the magnetic detacher works will all of them interchangeably.

  Hold the back of the tag and touch the side containing the pin to the Super Lock magnetic detacher.

  Pull on the other side of the tag once the back of the pin has become stuck to the detacher.

  Remove the pin from the clothing carefully so as not to damage the fabric or prick your fingers. Place the two sides of the tag into containers for future use.

Tips & Warnings

Forgetting to remove the tag will mean that the alarm will sound when the customer leaves the store.
When removing the tag, pull only on the tag and not on the garment or the fabric will tear.
