How to Reinstall Google Navigator

Google Navigator is part of the Google Maps app that is pre-installed on most Android phones. You can reinstall Google Navigator on your Android smartphone if you are having technical issues while using the application. There is a separate icon on the home screen, but it's part of the same software bundle you can download or upgrade to from the Android Market. Remove and then reinstall Google Maps to get the navigation feature working again.

  • Tap the "Market" icon on your home screen, go to "My Downloads" and select "Google Maps."

  • Tap the "Uninstall" button and press "OK." The phone removes Google Maps, including the Navigator feature.

  • Go to the Android Market main screen. Tap the search icon, type "Google Maps" in the text field and then touch the icon again to begin your search.

  • Select the "Google Maps" listing and tap "Free." Touch the "OK" button to confirm the download and wait as the application installs on your phone.

  • Press the "Home" button on the phone to exit the Android Market. Tap the "Google Navigator" icon on the home screen to launch the program.
