How to Insert a Symbol in HTML

Save

HTML (Hypertext Markup Language) is the markup language which Web developers use to create and format Web pages. HTML allows you to use specific codes to insert symbols and other special characters in your Web pages, for example, the copyright symbol or accentuated characters. Inserting a special character on your Web page requires you to use a specific format, as well as a code which is specific to each character.

  • Open the Internet page you want to edit in your favorite HTML editor.

  • Click inside your HTML file at the point where you want to insert the special character.

  • Type "&#". Then, type the specific code for the specific numerical code for the special character you want to insert, followed by ";". For example, to insert a copyright symbol into your document, type "©".

  • Save your HTML file.
