Toshiba currently lists more than 1,000 model numbers for the Satellite laptop on its support website. So finding the model number of you laptop by reading the specifications for each model would take a significant amount of time. Fortunately, there is a quicker way if you have your computer's serial number. Toshiba maintains a warranty database that matches serial numbers to the model number of each Satellite laptop. Locating the right page on the support site is the only other obstacle you'll need to clear.
Things You'll Need
- Satellite serial number
Open a browser.
Type "pcsupport.toshiba.com" in the browser's address bar and press the "Enter" key.
Click the "Warranty" tab in the menu bar at the top of the support home page.
Click "Warranty Coverage & Repair Options" in the drop-down menu.
Enter your serial number in the text-entry box labeled "Serial Number" and click the "Search" button. After clicking the "Search" button, you will be taken to a page that displays the model name and number as well as other warranty information.
Tips & Warnings
- The serial number for Satellite laptops is found on the bottom-side of the case. Turn the computer off, close the lid and disconnect any attached cables before turning the computer upside down to prevent damage.
