How to Turn a GIF Into a JPEG

Save

Photos saved to a computer can be saved under a variety of different computer file extensions. Sometimes, certain file extensions won't be compatible with the program you are working with, or you will just be looking for a new photo format to send a picture through email. If you have a photo saved as a GIF file, you easily can convert it to a JPEG, which is just another common type of computer photo file.

  • Save the GIF photo to your photo file on your computer.

  • Open the photo folder on your computer, and locate the GIF photo you've just saved.

  • Right click on the photo you want to change, selecting the option of "Rename."

  • Delete the last three letters at the end of the photo name, which should come after a period. These letters you are deleting should be GIF.

  • Type in the letters "JPG" where the letters "GIF" used to be. Click outside the highlighted photo, and you should see the name change instantly saved.
