How to: Vizio Ethernet Connection

Connecting a computer to a router and modem with an Ethernet cable provides a reliable Internet connection with the maximum download and upload speed offered by your Internet service subscription package. You can set up an Internet connection through your Vizio router by connecting the device to your modem and computer with Ethernet cables.

Things You'll Need

  • Move the personal computer so that you can access the device's back panel.

  • Unplug the existing modem cable from the jack on the back of the PC. Skip this if the PC isn't connected to a modem.

  • Plug one end of an Ethernet cable into the "Internet" port on the Vizio router. Plug the other end of the cable into the modem's Ethernet port.

  • Insert one end of another Ethernet cable into the computer's Ethernet port. This is usually marked "Ethernet" or "LAN" on the computer's back panel. Plug the other end of the Ethernet cable into one of the Vizio router's four "Ethernet" ports.

  • Plug the router's power adapter into a main AC power supply socket. Plug the end of the power adapter cable into the "Power" input socket on the router.

  • Switch on the router, modem and computer. Wait for the power and connection indicators to light up on the front of the router and modem. The computer will automatically find the connection and access the Internet.
