When you activate mobile text messages on Facebook, you allow the social network to send text messages directly to your mobile phone, including your friends' latest wall posts, statuses and messages. You may also receive notifications of friend requests and update your own status, and upload pictures and videos straight from your mobile phone. When adding a new mobile phone to your account, or switching to a new mobile phone, you must get a confirmation code from Facebook that will allow you to activate your mobile text messages service.
Log into your Facebook account. At the top right-hand corner of your screen, click on "Account," then on "Account Settings."
Click on the "Mobile" tab, then on "Register for Facebook Text Messages." A new window will pop up asking you to choose your country and your mobile carrier. If another mobile phone is registered with this account but you wish to activate a mobile phone to replace it, click on "Add Another Phone."
Wait until you see another window asking you to text a displayed letter to a five-digit telephone number. Text the letter on your mobile phone. You will receive a confirmation code by text message. Enter the code on the same screen that displayed the letter. Once it's submitted, the code will add your new mobile phone to your Facebook account. On the next screen, select which mobile phone you wish to keep as your default number to receive text messages from Facebook.
