How to Make AOL Smileys

Although many people use standard smiley faces to convey emotion in text, email or online chat messages, AOL offers a collection of unique smiley faces for use with AOL mail or the AIM instant messenger program. On sending a message with the AOL smiley codes, the content appears as a yellow, circular smiley face graphic.

Instructions

1. Open your AOL email program or AIM instant messenger program.

2. Click inside the message window.

3. Type "Ctrl" and "1" to enter:

   :-)

4. Type "Ctrl" and "2" to enter:

   :-(

5. Type "Ctrl" and "3" to enter:

   ;-)

6. Type "Ctrl" and "4" to enter:

   :-P

7. Type "Ctrl" and "5" to enter:

   =-O

8. Type "Ctrl" and "7" to enter:

   >:O

9. Type "Ctrl" and "8" to enter:

   8-)

10. Click "Send" to send the smiley.
