How to Create an Animated Film Strip in After Effects
An animated film strip can be used in a number of ways, such as to showcase a montage or as a submenu for DVD special features . You can animate a film strip with images in the actual strip or just as blank film itself. The animation can spool and spin around the screen like it's shooting out of a projector or to add a "Hollywood" theme. Create this animation in any version of Adobe After Effects.

1
Launce Adobe After Effects. Right-click in the "Project" window, select "Import" and choose the film-strip image file you want to import.

2
Right-click on the film-strip file and click "Properties." Write down the height and width of the film strip.

5
Activate the "Position" key frame. Place the timeline navigator at the start of the video. Drag the film strip to the top of the project so it is completely offscreen.
-
6
Drag the timeline navigator to the end of the video. Move the film strip down and off the bottom of the screen. You should see an animation path go straight down the screen.
-
7
Click the "New Composition" icon and make a default-size 720 by 420 pixel composition.
-
8
Drag-and-drop the film strip composition into the "Layers" section for the new composition.
-

Go to "Effects," "Distort" and "CC Page Turn." This will add the effect to the film strip.
