1. Determine what time it is in Germany. Germany is 1 hour ahead of Greenwich Mean Time, which means it is 6 hours later in Germany than it is on the East Coast of the United States, and 9 hours later than it is on the West Coast.
2. Dial 011, the international access code.
3. Dial 49, the German country code.
4. Drop the 0 from the city code. Some city codes for major cities in Germany include 030 for Berlin, 069 for Frankfurt, 06221 for Heidelberg, 0711 for Stuttgart and 089 for Munich.
