How to Put a Facebook Like Button on a Blog Post

Social-networking site Facebook provides a range of free tools to help you promote your blog or website. One way to gain an audience for a blog post is to include a "Like" button for Facebook users to click. Blogging platforms, such as Blogger and WordPress, have plugins that enable you to add buttons automatically to every post, but to add a "Like" button to a single article, you'll need to retrieve the HTML code from Facebook and paste it into your code.

Instructions

    • 1

Go to the Facebook Developers website at developers.facebook.com and click "Documentation" in the top menu.

    • 2

Click "Social Plugins" under "Core Concepts" and select "Like Button" on the next page.

    • 3

Type or paste the URL of your blog post into the "URL to Like" box.

    • 4

Click to select your preferences or leave default settings, then click "Get Code."

    • 5

Right-click anywhere in the "iframe" box and select "Copy" from the drop-down menu to get the HTML code.

    • 6

Open your blog post to edit and click the "HTML" or "Code" tab.

    • 7

Right-click at the bottom of the code and select "Paste" from the drop-down menu to insert the HTML for the Facebook "Like" button. Save your post and publish.
