How to Create a Scrapbooking Grandmother Character Using Your Own Pictures to Print

Adding a fun character to your albums will make them whimsical and enjoyable.

Creating a whimsical character in your scrapbook using real pictures adds humor and fun to your albums. A photograph of a grandmother or other loved one can be added to a scene along the border of an album page, or be the main attraction of its own page.

Things You'll Need

• Scrapbooking scissors
• Photo trimmer or other precision cutter
• Album page
• Acid-free adhesive
• Assorted printed acid free paper

Instructions

1. Trim the grandmother photo as carefully as possible with precision scrapbooking scissors. Remove all background, and get as close to the hair and body as possible with small, slow snips of the scissors.

2. Add some whimsy to the character. Cover her outfit with one made of scrapbooking paper. Or, add a funny hat or accessory. If she was in a sitting position, crop out the chair and perch her on a giraffe or elephant printed off the computer.

3. Arrange the pieces exactly the way you want them before adhering them down. Use acid free adhesive to stick the funny elements to the photo and to stick the cropped photo on top of any printed pictures.

4. Adhere the photo and other elements to the album page with the acid free adhesive. Use it as a side border for a photo spread, or let the altered photo be the main attraction.

Tips & Warnings

• Be creative - for an album spread on a trip to New York City, create a border with Grandma sitting on top of the Empire State Building. For a trip to the beach, perch Grandma in a lifeguard chair. If you are scrapbooking a trip to Disney World, create a whimsical photo of Grandma with Mickey ears or peeking out of Cinderella's castle.
